SHRD organises e-workshop to review govt employees’ performance

The Sharjah Human Resources Directorate (SHRD) has organised an electronic introductory workshop to explain the performance appraisal system for the employees of Sharjah government bodies, institutions and departments.
Held via WEBEX and remotely attended by over 90 employees, the workshop dealt with a number of important themes, the most prominent of which is the application of the performance appraisal system during remote work, and the latest developments in this stage affecting the performance appraisal system, as well as the key role of the direct supervisor during the second stage, and explanation of the electronic performance review stage.

The workshop also presented many pieces of advice to the employees about the stage of performance review, and highlights the observations on the stage of performance review for June and July. It also covered in detail the employees’ performance files, clarifying the importance of the employees’ retaining of all of their executed tasks, accomplishments and work reports they have performed over the specified period.

The workshop clarified the performance evaluation process followed by the government of Sharjah, through which the performance of the employee is evaluated against the goals and behavioural competencies that are developed in partnership between the employee and the direct official during the evaluation period, the importance of the evaluation stage, references and ongoing feedback during the performance period. The role of this stage in enabling officials to support employees’ competitiveness, improve and increase productivity and address challenges, thus raising the efficiency and effectiveness of government performance, was also focused on at the workshop.

The SHRD is constantly keen to implement the introductory workshops to explain the stages of the performance appraisal system, in the interest of raising job awareness among all government employees of the importance of evaluating and reviewing performance. The SHRD also puts performance development as a priority and a major goal that contributes to raising productivity, and builds on employees' awareness that their achievements are appreciated.
