SDHR issues a circular on new work system’s mechanisms

29 December, 2021

Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources (SDHR) issued a circular on the mechanisms of implementing the official weekly work system in the government agencies of the Government of Sharjah, announcing that the weekly work system will be four working days from Monday to Thursday, with the weekend starts from Friday to Sunday. The SDHR stated in its circular that the official working hours for Sharjah government employees start from Monday to Thursday every week from 7:30 AM until 3:30 PM.
This comes in implementation of the decisions and directives issued by the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), in line with the country’s vision, aiming to enhance its competitive position in various sectors. The implementation of the new work system will start from January 1, 2022.

The SDHR stated in its circular No. (20) of 2022, that the official working hours for Sharjah government employees start from Monday to Thursday every week from 7:30 AM until 3:30 PM.

It also clarified that the government entity may determine the beginning and end of the working hours according to the work system and the need, with at least (8) hours per day. If the interest of an entity’s working system requires reducing the number of working hours by less than (8) hours per day, the reduced period should be deducted from the duration of the employees' exit permits of studying or breastfeeding hours.

The issued circular stated that the employee must abide by the shift system on the dates set by the government entity, and in case of absence from work or delay from work during this period; the current regulatory framework in this regard shall be applied.
