SDHR: Some sectors might gloom but others will bloom in pandemic

03 May, 2020

Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources (SDHR) issued a study entitled “Effects of coronavirus pandemic on local business sectors and jobs”.
The study noted that businesses that were able to fully transform to online operations are the “winning” works where jobs that can be preformed remotely are in demand while other sectors that are not so tech-savvy might suffer as they lack the online transformation capabilities.

The study is part of the ongoing quest of SDHR to enrich the scientific and research aspects of the directorate as well as support governmental and private sector entities to face the challenges of the business world.

The study covered several aspects related to quarantine and its effects of businesses worldwide such as sectors that are related to travel, hospitality, sports, conferences, and group activities.

Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadem, Chairman of the directorate noted that this study aims to enhance jobs stability in the emirate through raising business and public awareness towards the challenges and opportunities in the job market.

He also stressed the directorate’s keenness to being up to date with the latest news and effects of the pandemic on job market and business opportunities, both globally and locally.
