Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources organised, in cooperation with the Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Development at Sharjah University, the “Professional Diploma in Inspection”, within its strategic plan aiming at developing the capacities of the employees of Sharjah Government, focusing on specialised professional programmes related to the development of their career skills. The organisation of professional diplomas takes place under the directives of HE Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, may God preserve him, with the aim to improve the employees’ performance and reduce the gap between the current skills and the future plans in order to develop the human capital.
The diploma programme started on Sunday, 06/10/2019 and will continue until 31/10/2019. It aims at providing workers in the inspection field with the necessary knowledge and skills to assume the inspection functions according to the standards approved in this industry. This will enable them to carry out health inspection and control tasks, use and apply the national system, specifications and standards according to the national code of control and inspection for the public and private institutions, as well as the inspection methods and local and international inspection laws. It will also enable them to apply health requirements in the public and private institutions, collect the necessary samples from the various facilities and write control reports in a professional manner that contributes to making sound decisions.
The diploma includes the Principles of Biology and Marine Biology, Occupational Safety and Health, Principles of Public Health, Environmental Legislation and Laws, Environmental Inspection, Food Inspection, Professional Ethics, the Capacity of Judicial Officers and discussion of the thesis of the diploma graduates. The employee then obtains an accredited professional diploma in inspection after fulfilling the diploma requirements.
The training methods used in the programme vary from theoretical lectures to brainstorming sessions, group work, role-playing and demonstration videos.
