The Directorate of Human Resources in Sharjah organised, in cooperation with the University of Sharjah, the professional diploma in customs inspection aiming at qualifying and training national cadres in order to provide them with the work skills in the field of customs inspection and increase their competences and capabilities in a number of basic specialised skills related to customs work. The programme will be attended by 19 employees from Khor Fakkan Customs Centre reporting to Sharjah Customs “Department of Sea Ports & Customs”. The programme started on Sunday March 10 and will continue until Thursday, April 4, 2019 for a period of four weeks for an average of 110 training hours. The participant will obtain a professional diploma in customs inspection issued by the University of Sharjah after completing the programme’s requirements.
The qualification programme courses will focus on the development of the participants’ legal and procedural knowledge skills, familiarising them with the Unified Customs Law, customs procedures, harmonised system, tariffs, value and rules of origin, customs clearance and free zones.
The diploma aims to develop specialised technical skills and basic skills related to customs work, such as customs risk management and targeting, body language, security sense, drug control, customs inspection of containers, persons, vehicles and luggage, dealing with hazardous substances and explosives, identification of shipping documents, skills of drafting customs control reports and dealing with evidence and detention.
The Directorate implements such specialised programmes and diplomas in accordance with the best standards and practices approved for the development of behavioural, personal and social skills, such as time and priorities management, innovation and creativity, problem solving and decision making, as well as their motivation to work collectively and develop the one-team spirit in order to acquire excellent communication skills and deal with the public through customer service.
