Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources supporting the Employment of People with Disabilities in Cooperation with Emirates NBD

Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources organised on Wednesday April 24, 2019, in cooperation with Emirates NBD, the “Employment Network Forum” aimed at the employment of people with disabilities, at Al-Thiqa Club for Handicapped, with the participation of 102 job seekers with disabilities from various specialties and academic qualifications.
The Employment Network Forum aims to provide job opportunities for people with disabilities and integrate them in the labour market, enhancing their abilities and capacities to be able to serve themselves and the community according to the nature and requirements of the job opportunities available in the business corporations.
Several companies, government entities, private and quasi-governmental entities participated in the events of the Forum, namely: Emirates NBD, Ministry of Community Development, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Manzil Centre, Schneider Electric Fze, Desert Group Company, UAE Exchange, Standard Chartered Bank, FedEx, Falcon Pack Company, Sodexo Company, Nour Bank, NMC Health, Al Nabooda Automobiles, Emirates Airlines, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, Sharjah Airport Authority and Nestle.
Representatives of the participating entities presented their job vacancies, stating their advantages and the details of each job, conducting job interviews and training programmes to those who pass the job interviews, and answering all the jobs seekers’ queries about the jobs.
HH Dr. Tariq Sultan Bin Khadim, Member of Sharjah Executive Council, Chairman of the Directorate of Human Resources in the Government of Sharjah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Thiqa Club for Handicapped, welcomed, in cooperation with Emirates NBD, the idea of implementation of the “Employment Network Forum” for persons with disabilities and said that this is an opportunity to facilitate the communication of job seekers with the various work fields, allowing the entities to identify the skills, capacities and qualifications of job seekers with disabilities. The job seekers themselves were able to learn about the types of jobs made available to them at the labour market.
He explained the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah under the leadership and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, in promoting the participation of the people with disabilities in the development process witnessed by the State, and the Emirate’s track record of all types of material, educational, cultural, moral, social and sports support for people with disabilities, which has enabled it to become one of the best cities in the world when it comes to the living standards for the persons with disabilities, starting from enacting laws and regulations that set the standards and requirements that take this category and the similar categories in consideration, to all the entities and companies established for them.
He underlined the interest of Sharjah Government in qualifying and training its employees in all the Government Departments, authorities and establishments, as it is keen to qualify its nationals with disabilities to be an active part of the business community in the Emirate, through various qualification programmes and sessions in several fields, such as languages and techniques. It also ensures that persons with disabilities become members in the Boards of their establishments, in addition to occupying senior positions in the rank of Directors of Departments and Heads of Sections.
He called for the importance of concerting corporate and community efforts to support and empower this category, giving them the opportunity to show their abilities, skills and powers and helping them prove themselves and overcome their disability by working, producing and participating in building the nation according to their capacities.
For his part, Husam Al Sayed, Chief Human Resource Officer at Emirates NDB, said: “We are pleased to cooperate with the Directorate of Human Resources in the Government of Sharjah, to organise the first edition of the “Employment Network Forum” in Sharjah, which will provide the people of determination from across the UAE, with the opportunity to join the human cadres. On the occasion of the Year of Tolerance 2019, announced by HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates State, May God preserve him, we look forward to motivating more interest in this issue and to encourage more companies to recruit people of determination and provide them with the suitable job opportunities”.
The participants in the events of the “Employment Network Forum” confirmed the importance and vital role of such forum in providing job opportunities to job seekers with disabilities, and its humanitarian role in integrating people with disabilities with the various entities in the public and private sectors, providing them with career support and guidance in line with their qualifications and capacities. The attendees praised the efforts exerted by the “smiling” Emirate in supporting and providing a decent life to the people with disabilities and its great interest in integrating them in the community.
